Maybe your wedding date has changed. Maybe your guest list has altered. Maybe you went from a spring wedding to a winter wedding.
It's important in times like these to make the conscious decision to be flexible and roll with the punches.
I had a bride several years ago who had planned her garden wedding for over a year. When the day arrived, so did the sporadic rain showers. We were watching the radar all afternoon. We knew that the last rain shower was coming right at 6:00pm, which is when the outdoor ceremony was to start, and it would be over by 6:30pm.
Her itinerary called for the ceremony at 6:00 followed by a cocktail party at 6:45.
To make the situation best suit the bride, we reversed it! As the guests arrived, they were directed into the cocktail party for passed hors d'oeuvres and a glass of champagne. The wedding began promptly at 6:45.
By then, the rain was gone, the sun was shining brightly, and the chairs were dried off.
So many guests commented saying, "what a fabulous way to kick off a wedding celebration" with the cocktail hour first. The sweetest part; the bride had such a positive attitude throughout the whole day. She was thrilled to know that her guests were enjoying the cocktail party.
When life gives you lemons, always choose to make lemonade. Make really SWEET lemonade at that!
Happy Wedding Planning!
